Welcome to the Neuroscience Program at Saint Mary's

In the field of neuroscience, Saint Mary's emphasizes the best in holistic care within a multidisciplinary environment. We draw on many fields of knowledge, and our patients can choose from a variety of treatment options.

All of our neuroscience services are now housed together in the new Hauenstein Center at Saint Mary’s. This $60 million facility brings together all outpatient and inpatient neuroscience services under one roof for maximum patient convenience and physician collaboration.

Neuroscience Program Highlights:

  • Entire continuum of care: Education and prevention, diagnosis, acute treatment including surgical options, rehabilitation, ongoing management
  • Neuroscience services include: ALS, Alzheimer’s/memory Disorders, epilepsy/seizure disorders, neuro-ophthalmology, neuro-diagnostics, neurology, neurosurgery, neuro-rehabilitation, Parkinson’s/movement Disorders, diseases of the spine, and acute stroke care
  • The first service for the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy in the state of Michigan, including a 4-bed epilepsy monitoring unit and treatments such as epilepsy surgery which can eliminate seizures
  • True “one-stop shop”, with same-day expert evaluation on a patient’s condition
  • Ancillary services such as physical therapy, nutrition counseling, social services, nurse practitioner support, and others to provide “one-stop-shopping” for patients and families
  • Decentralized nursing stations – one for every two rooms
  • Mechanical patient lift in every room to promote patient and staff safety
  • Expanded research partnership with Van Andel Institute on Parkinson’s Disease
