Emergency Department Registration
Greets patients and their family members in a positive and
caring manner. Data entry of patient encounters and demographics.
Participates as a member of the Emergency Room Healthcare
Team to ensure the efficient flow of patients within the ER.
- Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
- High school education or equivalent required.
- Graduate of a medical assistant program or have medical
office experience with a proven knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to:
- Handle patients’ information in a confidential
manner.
- Demonstrate positive customer service behavior as defined
in the SMMMC Core Competencies with patients, their families
and other health care professionals.
- Work independently and take initiative necessary to meet
essential functions of the position.
- Communicate effectively in person, via telephone and
in oral and written form.
- Manage competing priorities and maintain composure under
stressful situations.
- Adapt quickly to new procedures and work methods.
- Ability to work varying hours.
